In 1972, David Solf authored a general information pamphlet for the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game on the natural history of L. canadensis. It turned out to be his only printed work on the subject of otters.
Today, there is an online version of Solf's pamphlet on the ADF&G website, however the original text has been altered. In fact, it has been edited to such an extent that some of Solf's original findings have been obscured, in particular his pioneering discoveries pertaining to male groups.
Because I believe it is important to preserve Solf's work for scientific posterity, I am here republishing the original, unedited text of the 1972 pamphlet.
